Deepti Bharthur

Deepti contributes to academic, action, and policy research in the areas of data economy, platforms and digital exclusions, digital citizenship, and supports grant development. She also manages the alternative media platform Bot Populi, and currently leads an action research project in the city of Bengaluru which looks at community-led data systems for enhancing civic engagement. Deepti has coordinated and co-developed design based digital interventions for gender training and leads fund-raising and grant development activities at the organisation. She received her PhD in Media and Communication from Bowling Green State University in 2015, where her thesis work was on the policy architecture of rural connectivity in India.
